Meet Our Winemakers

Meet The Team

From left to Right: Fred Brown, John Sanderson, Antoine Cotes

John Sanderson, Manager and Vintner.

Having been interested in wine from a young age, it was during an organised tasting that he came across a wine called Pica Broca and was so impressed by this wine that he decided to learn more about the vineyard. With a little research he learned of the work that we were doing at La Sauvageonne and wanted desperately to be involved and so after a brief email correspondence, previous winemaker Gavin Crisfield invited him over to help with the 2007 harvest. He honed his winemaking skills during the previous three years with Gavin and now John looks after winemaking and running of the domaine.

“This domaine is absolutely unique, a real jewel in the Terraces du Larzac, an appellation increasingly recognised as the finest in the Languedoc and indeed the South of France".

Antoine Cotes, Horticulture Manager.

Having been here the longest of all the team, Antoine is the heart of La Sauvageonne. With his full dedication to the vineyard and all the hard work needed to make it successful, Antoine has rightly earned the nickname Superman. Quite simply, the vineyard would be lost without him!

Fred Brown, Owner and Chairman.

While many people nearing their retirement slow down, ready to put their feet up and relax, Fred Brown was looking to sink his 'taste-buds' into something new. For many years Fred had been involved with the Yorkshire Sommeliers, and it was through them that his love for great wines developed. After months of negotiations, La Sauvageonne was finally theirs, just in time for the 2001 harvest.
